Abstract:

Is Einstein's theory of gravity and the standard cosmological model fullysatisfactory? Despite their significant achievements, theoretical argumentssuggest possible modifications to Einstein's gravity. Recent observations revealincdiscrepancies in the measurement of the Hubble constant, along with the effectsof cosmic birefringence, suggest the potential need for theories beyond Einstein'sframework, particularly those involving higher curvature scenarios. We introducedilaton-Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet (dEGB) gravity in four dimensions as a simpleextension of general relativity, Black holes, which are essential for quiding ustowards the quantum domain, will be explored through their thermodynamicproperties, particularly via holographic methods. Unlike Einstein's gravity, dEGBgravity imposes a minimum mass threshold for black hole formation. Incosmology, we summarize the evolution of the universe according to the standardmodel and highlight new features of dEGB cosmology, including a novel phasethat emerges at higher temperatures and its physical implications.
